Early morning lessons

You are good, and what you do is good; teach  me your decrees.~Psalm 119:68

Ever have one of those mornings that start off a little rocky?  That was me today.  I woke up thinking about some minor issues of the day and jumped into a conversation with my hubby.  I wanted to give him some “ advice” on what I thought he should do.  The thing is that he didn't take it.  So here comes pride, strife, and dissension.  All useless things and all unnecessary.  Things that could have been avoided if I would not have missed an important step; time alone with God and His word.

Thankfully, God knew what I needed and pricked my heart.  He set up the perfect passage for me to read today, Psalms 119.  If you have read it before, you know it is not a quick read. But it is full of truths that cuts out the noise and brings you back to the need and purposes of His word.  So many things jumped off the page, but one stood out the most today. God is good!

God is good and everything He does is good.  Let the truth of this word soak in to your hearts and minds today.  Don't get distracted by the drama of this world.  Don't get distracted by the desires and temptations of your flesh.  Don't be persuaded to doubt and walk away from what is absolute.  He is good and what He does is good.

When we operate in this truth our lips are ready to offer a praise.  We praise Him when it looks like all is lost because we affirm the truth that He will work it out for our good.  We may not know why things are so messed up right now, but we do know that our GOOD God  is good at being God. He will turn it all around according to His purpose.  And whatever He purposes is good (Roman 8:28).

If we know He is good, we also know His Word, will, and Way are good.  I know I need not only to know His word, but understand it.  When I understand His word I am enabled to obey His word.  It His word that directs my steps when my world goes dark, fir it is a lamp unto my feet(Psalms 119:105).  It His word that preserves my life and sustains me through times of suffering( 119:107).  His word keeps sin from ruling over me(Psalm 119:33). 

His word is what reveals the real problem and gives the solution to dealing with it.  His word keeps me humble and surrendered to His will.  His word removed the pride, strife, and dissension. His word gives me victory. God is good.

Father I thank you for your word.  Hide it in my heart that

I might not sin against you(Psalm 119:11).  Thank you for being God.  In Jesus name. Amen
