If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”and you make the Most High your dwelling, 10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;12 they will lift you up with their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against the stone.~Psalm 91:9-12
God really does love me. I know this to be true, but sometimes the stillness and the depth of His love just makes me stand in awe. I can’t help but say to myself, “Wow, you really do love me.” His word and His truth causes me to step back from an intellectual understanding of His sacrifices for me to take a deep breath and absorb spiritually the depth and the nature that is Him. To understand deep within my heart and soul just how many hidden treasures there are of His love for me and for you. The very ocean itself is not deep enough to compare to His live for me.
For all of this love that He lavishes on me, on His people, what does He asks in return? What does He desire from me? He asks that I believe in Him ( 1John 3: 23) and dwell in and with Him. He asks that we trust Him, knowing that if we walk in this truth that we will be safe. He asks us to let Him be our refuge; to proclaim this truth.
When God is our refuge, our shelter, He is our defense. He is our protection from all the seen and unforeseen dangers in this world. He is our shield of faith against the attacks against our families, health, finances, and peace. He says no harm will come to our tents, but the tent pegs must be grounded deep in Him. We must pitch our tents in shelter of the most High. That is where we will find our strength. This is where we will know that all that this world throws at us will not overtake us. All of the garbage that has been dumped on our souls will be removed and put in its proper place- outside of the tents because we dwell in the shelter of the Most High God.
Remember God loves us. He has already promised us protection. He has already promised us peace( John 14:27) and safety. Yet, there is more. He promises us that He will command His angels to guard us in all our ways(Psalm 91:11). Wow! He saved me from myself. He gave His only Son to redeem me my soul. He has sealed me with His Spirit ( Ephesians 1:13) and now I have angels watching over me. They hold up their hands so that I will not strike my foot against the stone ( vs12) They keep my foot from striking the stone that would cause me trip because of temptation or lack of understanding. They keep me from striking the stone that represents the very stone I stand on- my faith in Jesus Christ ( Isaiah 28:16). He opened my eyes to the truth of Who He is so that I would see and not stumble ( Romans 9:33, 1 Peter 2:8). That’s love.
His life, His Word. His angels in exchange for my trust in Him-the one Who Saves. I’ll take that and praise Him all the day long.
Father I thank You for your amazing love. I will never ever be able to repay You, but I can praise You. Father, let me not forget just how much You love me. Keep me under your wings. May I dwell in the shelter of your love and truth. May I stay humble and obedient, not taking for granted all that You do. May I walk in peace knowing You are with me. May my steps be sure because of You. Lord let me say it and believe it... for You are my refuge. In Jesus name. Amen
Thank you, Jennifer!! Again your words inspire me! I know God is speaking through you. Please keep obeying Him! May He continue to bless you, my sister in Christ. ππ»ππ
