When you can’t see, trust that God does

Who among you fears the Lord
and obeys the word of his servant?
Let the one who walks in the dark,
who has no light, trust in the name of the Lord and rely on their God.~Isaiah 50:10

I am that girl who likes to know.  I want a clear map that details to me what is going to happen next.  I am not that person that live in expectation because that would require me to “wait” and “see”.  That means that I will not have time to analyze and strategically plan my next steps.  Waiting and seeing means that I don’t know and that I will be in the dark.

Being a planner and organizer is not necessarily a “bad” thing, but life is not based on what I see.  Rather it’s based on believing.  Believing that God is the one Who will guide my steps.  Believing and knowing that He sees the complete picture of me and the plans that He has established for me.

Therefore, I must trust Him.  I must walk by faith and not by sight(2 Corinthians 5:7).  I must remember that He is the light and if I follow Him I will never walk in darkness.

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."~John 8:12

So when I can’t see the next step or I don’t know which way to go I must wait, trust, and obey. I must be still and rely on God to lead me.   I must rely on Him to reveal to me the next step.  Then I must take that step even if I can’t see it with my physical eye because that is what faith is about.

Faith is not doing something because you already know the outcome.  Faith is doing what God said and trusting that whatever results is for His purpose and my good.
It is knowing that you are enough because greater is He that lives in me than he that is in the world ( 1 John 4:4).

So when things seem dark, trust God.  Rely on Him and know that all is well.  It reminds me that silence does not mean God is not working, but rather He is waiting on me to learn how to really listen and receive all that He has for me.  To stop being so busy trying to help a God who needs no help.  I have to step down from the throne of my life that is rightfully and grateful His.

Lord, I thank You for being God.  I thank You for the lessons to teach me.  I thank You for your patience and discipline.  I thank You for the excitement that comes from knowing You.  Lord, may that be my goal, to know You more and more each day.  Forgive for those many times that I try to rely on my own strength and limited knowledge.  I acknowledge that in the valleys are shadows, but You Lord are the light that will lead me through.  Thank You and bless your Holy name.  In Jesus name I do pray.  Amen

  1. Amen Jennifer! The key word is "trust". When we sincerely trust God, we no longer rely on what we see or how we feel. Instead we wholeheartedly believe in God's Word and stand on His promises. God bless you for this inspiration lesson.
