The Goodness of God

 Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.~ Isaiah 61:7

God is absolutely amazing.  He brings restoration and joy.  He is our hope.  The Israelites  were disobedient to God and would have to be punished by being exiled to a foreign land, but even in the midst of the shame, God promised that they would rejoice and inherit a double portion.  The abundance of grace is astonishing.  Its hard to fathom.

I am not so different from the Israelites.  I have been disobedient to God.  I have done things that have brought me shame and and disgrace.  I have been broken, but God has restored me through His Son Jesus.  Jesus' death and resurrection allowed me to receive mercy, grace, and a double portion.  I am forgiven and restored.  I am whole and its because of Christ.

As Christmas approaches I can not help but think of the goodness of God.  The gift of Jesus.  The promise of peace and the assurance of hope.  Thank You Lord.

Jesus, thank You for loving me so much.  Thank You for providing a path to You.  Thank You for being a light on my path.  Thank You for the gift of Your Son Lord.  Cover Your people and bless us as we bless Your Holy name.  In Jesus name I do pray.  Amen
